A Girl (Part-1)

The moment she steps out
A million savage, athirst eyes
Start following her…

Loafer’s life comes to a standstill
When she combs her hair
At the window

They all stare
When she goes to the roof

In the bus
Everyone tries to fondle with her
They gradually slide their hands
Towards her body…

Bank, petrol pumps, grocery stores…
Is there any place where they don’t follow her
Those eyes full of lust

She is not safe anywhere
Now a days
She is not even safe in her mother’s womb…
She is a girl
She is not safe anywhere…

A Man

I conceit the fact that
I am a man…
Sit on the center-stage
Give speech in assemblies
Consider myself “grand”…

But
I remember…
I cried a lot
When I was a kid
With my head dug in mom’s lap
When my toy was broken

When frightened
I took my grandmother’s shelter
For that I have broken
My dad’s watch

Even today
I run to my sister
When conditions become intolerable
To seek mental rejuvenation

Every now and then
I live
And will live
With different faces of women
Still
I deny their existence
I retract them of the respect they deserve

I am a Man
I consider myself “grand”…
